Nurse Practitioners

Rosie Thompson

Rosie was a practice nurse for many years before gaining her post-graduate diploma as a nurse practitioner.  She is trained to assess, diagnose and manage minor illness in the practice.  Her specialist area is ear care.  Her qualifications include being a Registered General Nurse, Diploma in Community Health (specialist practitioner qualification, practice nursing), Certificate in Counselling, Diploma in Ear Care, Diploma in Clinical Practice Teaching, A33 Autonomous Practitioner, Nurse Prescribing, MA Advancing Nurse Practice (Primary Care).

Miss Sue Greenwood (f)

Sue Greenwood is a Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in GP Practice in Hull and prior to that as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner and Emergency Care Practitioner. She is able to assess, diagnose and treat minor illness conditions and exacerbations of some long term conditions.  Her qualifications include Registered General Nurse, Bachelor of Nursing, Diploma in Health Science, Emergency Care Practitioner and Independent Nurse Prescribing.

You may wish to see Rosie or Sue if you have acute minor conditions such as a sore throat, ear symptoms, colds, coughs, skin problems, sprains and strains, mild abdominal pain, allergies, sexual health problems or infections. 

Mrs Jackie Roberts (f)

Jackie Roberts in a Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience in community services and long term conditions.  Her qualifications include being a Registered General Nurse, A33 Autonomous Practitioner, Independent Nurse Prescribing and a Diploma in Leg Ulcer Management.  Her special interest is complex medical elderly,


Rebecca Leighton

Rebecca is our lead nurse in asthma and COPD.  Her qualifications include being a Registered General nurse, Degree qualified in COPD and Asthma and has a Diploma in cervical cytology.  She is also an independant nurse prescriber.

Jessica Day

Jessica is one of our respiratory nurses.  Her qualifications include being a Registered nurse (adult branch), a Diploma in Asthma, a Diploma in Adult Nursing and a Diploma in Cervical Cytology.  She is working towards her COPD Diploma.

Tracey Abbott

Tracey is one of our nurses who specialises in diabetes care.  Her qualifications include being a Registered General nurse, BSc (Hons) in Community Health Studies and District Nursing with nurse prescribing.

Elaine Taylor

Elaine is mainly responsible for Treatment Room duties.  She is a Registered General nurse with significant experience in emergency medicine.

The nurses run their own clinics.  With the doctors they share the management of high blood pressure, contraception and other conditions needing regular monitoring such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, COPD and chronic kidney disease.

The nurses also run the children’s vaccination sessions.  These appointments are determined by the Child Health System at Victoria House in Hull.

You can make an appointment with a practice nurse in both the morning and afternoon at The Park Surgery and on a Thursday morning and Monday afternoon at Nafferton.

Claire Dawes (f)

Claire joined the practice in March 2017 and is a fully qualified nurse although her past experience is more in the community.  She is currently training in all aspects of our Treatment Room service.

Caroline Bremer (f)

Caroline is currently training in all aspects of the Treatment Room.  She joined the practice in 2018.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
